Memory — Samsung and SK Hynix drop 4% as Seoul reopens, storage follows; Nasdaq futures slip

Seoul reopened this morning after two days shut for the Chuseok holiday and fell 2.32% to 6,916.53, back below 7,000. The memory makers led it down: Samsung Electronics fell 4.56% and SK Hynix 4.40%. In Tokyo, the flash-memory maker Kioxia lost 3.10%. The selling reached the storage makers too - Taiwan's Phison fell 4.06% - but not the companies that sell the machines. Micron, the largest US memory maker, reports on Wednesday.

  • 1 Nvidia $231.07 (+2.67%), up in a falling market: the S&P 500 is down 0.57% and the chip fund SOXX 2.03%, after Nvidia launched its Open Agent Safety Platform and on reports of a share buyback
  • 2 MongoDB $336.99 (-17.90%), its chief executive leaving to help build Meta's new enterprise unit
  • 3 Meta $720.28 (-4.18%) on the day it launches Meta Enterprise Platform, a unit to sell its AI stack to businesses
